Book Coaching
Got a great idea for a book, but you’re struggling to get it written?
Well, pull up a chair, and let’s figure this book out together.
There are so many reasons we get stuck and don’t get our books finished: imposter syndrome, writer’s block, a lack of clear direction. Most of the time, just having someone to bounce ideas off can unlock the block and help us get the ball rolling (and get the ink flowing).
You have to be careful who you troubleshoot your writing with. If you depend on the wrong person for support, someone who is not a writer—or at the very least a reader, you could receive feedback that isn’t helpful and that leads to a complete shutdown instead of inspiration and motivation.
As someone who is familiar with the book-making industry—from the writer’s end of the spectrum all the way through to the reader’s end—I can help you push past obstacles so you can finish your book.
I offer different levels of intervention: Accountability Partner, Critique Partner, and Planning Partner.
And I offer different levels of interaction for introverts, ambiverts, and extroverts.
The different packages require different amounts of assistance from me, so they are priced accordingly.
The fine print:
Each package comes with a nondisclosure clause in the contract, but requires a three month minimum booking to start (to make it worth the effort of creating the contract). After the initial three month period, the service can continue month to month and can be canceled at any time.
Each service comes with an optional complimentary introductory meeting (audio or visual), so you can see if we are a good fit before committing.
Accountability Partner
As your accountability partner, my goal is to help you get your book written. I do not do any writing, editing, or instruction on the craft of writing with this kind of book coaching service.
Instead, we look at obstacles that are keeping you from writing and determine how best to overcome them. When your confidence is flagging, I’ll be your biggest cheerleader. When you are struggling creatively, I’ll be a sounding board and help you brainstorm. When you just don’t feel like writing, I’ll be the drill sergeant who gives you a kick in the pants (gently, of course).
This virtual relationship is customizable, so let me know how I can help you get the words on the page.
Introvert Package: $25 per month
After the (optional) complimentary introductory meeting, we’ll start with a questionnaire and set some goals. I’ll send you weekly emails to check on your word count and offer encouragement. You email me your word count. Ask questions if you want. Tell me what you’re struggling with, and celebrate your wins. I’ll respond via email and send you links to relevant resources (when applicable). We can use an alternate platform such as Facebook Messenger if you don’t want to do email.
Ambivert Package: $35 per month
You get everything included in the Introvert Package plus bi-weekly audio recordings (Voxer or Facebook messenger). You send up to two audio recordings—ten minutes each—anytime during a calendar month. I respond to each of your recordings via email or audio (your choice).
Extrovert Package: $50 per month
You get everything included in the ambivert package plus a monthly zoom call (40 minutes maximum) to discuss anything related to your writing life. I follow-up with an email of the highlights of our conversation.
Critique Partner
Imagine having a built-in beta reader. That’s me! You’ll have me to help with everything offered in the Accountability Partner service, but we’ll also look at your actual writing with this Critique Partner service. While this does not include any actual editing, you will get big-picture feedback noting what’s working in your manuscript and what needs attention. With this kind of book coaching, I pretend you’re one of the members of my in-person critique group, and I give you the same kind of feedback I would give to them.
Note: If you only want Beta Reading Services and not accountability check-ins, you may prefer my Beta Reading service or my Manuscript Critique service.
Introvert Package: $40 per month
In addition to our weekly Accountability Partner emails, you’ll have the opportunity to email me 10 consecutive pages (of your choosing) each month. You can include questions in your email to guide what you want me to focus on as I read those pages. I will give big-picture feedback regarding your writing via email.
Ambivert Package: $50 per month
Send me an audio message about the ten pages you want my feedback on including anything specific you’d like me to focus on as I read your pages. I will give my feedback in audio format as well as via email. You also have the option to respond to my feedback in an audio message, which I will respond to in kind.
Extrovert Package: $100 per month
In addition to the features of the Accountability Partner package, this service includes a monthly zoom call to discuss the feedback I’ve emailed about your 10 pages. (The Extrovert level Critique and Accountability combo package includes two separate zoom calls in one month—40 minutes each maximum).
Note: Prices given for the Critique Partner package reflect a monthly reading of 10 pages. If you would like me to read more than 10 pages in a month, we can adjust the price accordingly.

Planning Partner
This level of book coaching includes all of the features mentioned in the Accountability Partner and Critique Partner services, but it goes further and actually gets into the realm of early editing. You can think of this as structural editing or early-stages developmental editing. We will talk through your publishing goals, your intended reader, genre expectations, and the hook of your book. From there we’ll make a plan (to the degree of detail that you’re comfortable with). The goal of this service is to get your book on track from the start and to keep it on track as you write.
During our planning sessions, we can tease out anything you’re struggling with: character development issues, chapter order, point of view, voice, etc.
I will read your pages on a monthly basis as described in the Critique Partner service, but you have the option to send me as many pages at a time as you like. In addition to giving big-picture type feedback, I will give you guidance and ask you questions to keep your manuscript on track.
This package is fully customizable. Client needs vary from project to project; therefore, the best pricing plan involves an hourly rate.
Pricing Plan: $40 per hour
This is a stand-alone service intended to get you on the path of writing your book with a clear end goal in sight. To keep my services cost-effective for the writer, I recommend reverting to the Critique Partner book coaching service once the plan is in place and the first few chapters have been gone through together. Alternatively, clients can opt for the Full Manuscript Critique or developmental editing service once the manuscript is complete.
